#17 Kenny Adkins and #8 was owned by Marvin Church.  It was probably being driven by Red Taylor.  The hot rods are shown here lined up before the start of a race at Jayhawk Speedway in Newton, Kansas 1n 1948.  This photo was taken just seconds either before the next photo just below was taken.  – Mills collection

The #10 hot rod at the bottom of this photo was owned by the Forrest family of Wichita, Kansas but the driver here is unidentified.  The #355 hot rod in the center of the photograph was driven by Charlie Lutkie.  The white #81 hot rod, third from left, was owned by Earl Mills of Newton, Kansas and probably driven by Bill Perkins.  Drivers of #3, #4, and #15 have yet to be identified.  The photo was taken at Jayhawk Speedway in Newton in 1948 – Mills collection

 

The only thing that has been identified in this photo so far that was taken at Jayhawk Speedway in Newton, Kansas is the #81 hot rod at the far right side of the photo.  It was usually driven by Bill Perkins and both the hot rod and the racetrack were owned by Earl Mills – Mills collection

 

The second hot rod from the left in the center of this photo is #18 driven by John Conley and sponsored by Butts Buick.  The #8 was owned by Marvin Church.  This photo was taken at Jayhawk Speedway in Newton, Kansas c1949s – Mills collection

This photo was taken as the cars were coming over the hump and onto the smaller racetruck in front of the bleachers at Cejay Stadium in Wichita, Kansas in 1948.  The only hot rod identified so far is the #312 running in second place and driven by Harry Everhart – Frank McElhaney collection
