The five cars listed as not finishing this race plus the #10 driven by Penwell, were all involved in the same pileup in the south turn.  Penwell was the only driver injured in the accident; he receiving a deep cut on his face that required several stitches to close.  The radiator was damaged on the #41JR car so Hart took over as driver of the #10 car that Penwell had been driving and finished the race in second place in relief of Penwell.
