Burke dropped out on the 7th lap when the car’s fan “came loose and cut up his radiator.” The race between Wiles and Breed was exciting with Wiles leading on the straightaways and Breed “using almost recklessly daring sliding” in the turns to regain the front spot.

Swain pulled away to a comfortable lead and was never headed. Wiles and Burke put on a spirited raced for second including coming by the grandstand on the 11th lap “radiator and radiator”. Wiles pulled away on the 16th lap but Burke fought back until he almost upset his Hudson on the north turn. Wiles received an ovation from the crowd for winning the exciting race. Burke, “just a youth employed at the Hutchinson Motor Co., did some plucky driving and made some spectacular turns but found that Wiles was too much for him”.

Breed took the lead at the start and finished well ahead of second place having made “almost a perfect run”. Stanfield had second place cinched and had a good chance at winning when he blew a tire on the back stretch “throwing his machine into the fence.” Thirty yards of fencing and one heavy post were torn down. Stanfield was not injured and his car was not damaged except for the tire. He cleaned up the debris himself so that the race would not be delayed.
Right after this race, the Hudson 20 driven by Burke was purchased by M. D. Anderson of Stafford, Kansas.

The twins were required to give the singles a ¼ mile head-start – a deficit they were unable to overcome.
Warner dropped out on the twelfth lap with mechanical trouble.
Felle (or Selle) fell of at beginning start and did not rejoin the race.
By all accounts, the day of racing was a success. The crowd was the largest to witness an automobile race in the state and there were no injuries.
