This photo was taken at the end of the pace lap for the first heat race on this day.  Emory Collins started on the pole with Deb Snyder on the outside of the front row.  Rabbit Musick is inside the second row and Red Hodges (driving Peaches Campbell’s #1) is on the outside of the second row.  Bill Anderson is on the inside of the third row and Harry King is on the outside of the third row.  This is a great photo to see how the north end of the racetrack looked at that time – Swart collection

Joe Baker’s #4 Rutherford was scheduled to start in this race but did not.

The Campbell Offy driven by Musick suffered a blown engine on the 9th lap.

Snyder pursued Collins closely threatening to pass on several occasions.
