Drivers had the option of keeping their qualifying time from Monday’s time trials (4 days before) or they could give up Monday’s time and requalify by running in these time trials.  Most of those who requalified improved their times.  Drivers that had not raced on Monday or drivers that had raced on Monday but were now driving different cars, had to qualify in these time trials and their time was integrated in with those that were run on Monday.

Edmonds dropped out on the fifth lap with engine trouble.  Wilson sent to the pits one lap later with similar woes.  Collins led this race all the way with Alberts and Campbell close behind.  Alberts was able to close up close behind Collins at the end but none of his attempts to pass were successful.
