Jack Petticord dropped out on the sixth lap with engine trouble. Fred Horey was running in third place with one lap to go. The first three cars finished the race less than one car length apart.
Harold Homer “Jack” Petticord (1900-1940) of Wichita, Kansas, went on to win the I.M.C.A. Canadian National Driving Championship the year after he raced in these races at Hutchinson. He also compete in the Indianapolis “500” in 1927 and again, but only as a relief driver, in 1928.
There was a Jimmy Craft from Chicago, Illinois who was racing with the I.M.C.A. at that time. Could Clif Craft and Jimmy Craft have been the same person?
