Endicott got a poor start and was soon 1/8 mile behind the others. He constantly gained ground throughout the contest and it is believed he would have passed Hoffman if there were another lap to go.

Johnny Raimey dropped out on the sixth lap with a flat tire. This was a hotly contested race with three cars still being in contention for the win at the beginning of the last lap. Endicott edged out Kilpatrick by a fraction of a car length for the win.
* Bill Endicott (1876-1944) and Juddy Kilpatrick (1879-1961) both competed in the Indianapolis “500” as Kilpatrick drove in relief for Louis Disbrow in 1913.
** John R. “Johnny” Raimey (1880-1964) was from Cincinnati, Ohio and later moved to Memphis, Tennessee. He drove racing cars for 20 years before turning his attention to promoting automobile races in the Tennessee area. Johnny lost a leg in 1931 when an errant racing car struck him after it had run off of a Memphis racetrack.
