White led the first 125 laps before hitting a hole in the south tour that slowed his pace.  He was passed for the lead by Beauchamp who then held on until the finish winning by more than a quarter of a mile over White.

Baker suffered head and neck injuries when he rolled his car #52 in the middle of the back straightaway on the 89th lap.

Only 15 cars had completed half of the race by the time that Beauchamp crossed the finish line.

The racetrack cut up so badly during the race that several of the drivers said they would not race on it again until substantial repairs were made.
