Dean Roper of Joplin, Missouri timed in 31st fastest in time trials on this day at Hutchinson. He apparently did not want you to see his engine though. Roper would go on to compete twice in the Daytona 500 before being passing away from a heart attack while competing in an ARCA sanctioned race at Springfield, Illinois in 2001 Racing from the Past web site
