Black led the first 67 laps before loosing a wheel and spinning out. He was able to replace the wheel and make his way back up to 12th place by the end of the race.

* “Tex West” was an alias used by Austin E. Wetzler (1903-1962) when he drove racing cars. On this day, West managed to turn his 1955 Chevrolet over on two different occasions.
