1 Willard Cable Prentiss (1897-1959) ran the last three laps of the 25-mile feature race at Oakley, Kansas with a flat rear tire.  Prentiss went on to compete in the Indianapolis “500” in 1933, starting 40th and finishing 13th.  He tried to qualify two different cars for the 1934 Indianapolis “500” but failed to gain enough speed in either to start the race.  He is buried in the Ft. Logan National Cemetery at Denver, Colorado.

 

2 Jim White ran off the track three times on his way to a fifth place finish in the 25-mile feature race.

 

3 Harry Kurtz (1893-1965) was the Buick dealer at Oakley, Kansas for a number of years.

 

4 Walter Frank Krhut (1893-1984) is buried in the Union Cemetery at Collyer, Kansas.

 

5 Leslie Levie Franklin “Spec” Neff (1907-1962) who also went by the nickname “Babe” Neff.  Spec’s father, John William Neff (1885-1946), owned the race car.

 

6 Robert Lee Hillery (1888-1953).

 

7 Glen James Spena (1907-1977) is buried in the WaKeeney City Cemetery at Wakeeney, Kansas.

 

8 Thomas Randolph “Tom” Harned (1902-1962) is buried the Maple Grove Cemetery at Dodge City, Kansas.

 

9 John P. “Happy Jack” Iseman, Jr. (1902-1982) is buried in the Evergreen Cemetery at Hugo, Colorado.  He was also a noted airplane racer.

 

10 Harley D. Viers (1902-1979) is buried in the Topeka Cemetery in Topeka, Kansas.
