The crowd of spectators spilled out onto the racetrack after a two-car crash at the north end of the racetrack on the tenth lap of the A feature race. Several drivers had not seen the crash and the race continued until the speeding cars encountered the crowd on the racetrack. No one was injured neither in the crash nor as the cars evaded running into the crowd. It was only then that officials decided to stop the race. At that point, Charles “Chuck” Arnold was leading by more than a lap over the second place car. Due to all of the confusion, officials finally decided to line the cars up in their original starting positions and rerun the entire 25-lap race from the beginning.
