Case

*Jerry Wonderlich’s record of October 10, 1916 was officially recognized even though it was actually obtained by running two laps and then dividing the total time for those laps by 2.

**During an exhibition run on October 12, 1916 in Barney Oldfield’s famous Christie racing car, Capt. Harvey Kennedy set an unofficial one-lap track record but that mark was not officially recognized as the Christie was not in competition at the time.  The engine in the Christie was a 1,237 CID V-4 which was claimed to have 135 HP.

***The first recorded time for this distance was on July 4, 1916 when Elfrieda Mais was the first (and only) one to run that distance on the clock.  Mais’ time was not officially recognized as a track record though as it was accomplished during an exhibition run and not in competition.

**** Times have not been located for nearly all of the races run but these are the best records from the times currently known.

***** A time of 3:33.0 would have been much more believeable and would still have been a new track record

** This was the first race of this distance run on this racetrack so even though the time is unknown; it had to have been a new track record.
