Billy McGee is shown here at left in the #505 Merkler Machine Shop Hisso with Glenn “Pee Wee” Northern in the #4042 Merkler Special at right. The photo was taken at New Bremen, Ohio on July 4, 1949. Northern lead the featire for 12 laps that day before being forced out of the race with gear trouble. McGee had set the quickest time in time trials and won the feature from the pole position. McGee’s real name was William Spinks and he was called “Billy McGee Spinks” by many.
