Powell and Bray pulled away from the rest of the field from the beginning. Powell had started from the inside position and led on every straightaway of the race only to lose out to Bray on every turn. Powell broke a piston on the last lap and could not muster as much of a lead on the final straightaway but held on to win by a wheel in record breaking time. Trainor held third place for the first four laps before dropping out of the race with engine trouble. Avery finished close behind Lyons but both were far behind the leading dual.
Bray had entered two Frontenac racing cars in these races. One carried the #4 and the other #7. He ran one of those cars in this race and the other in the next race but it unknown which car he drove in which race.

Archie Powells car had thrown a rod in the last race it ran so he did not start this race. Bray pulled away to a big lead and won by almost a hundred yards.
* Rea Clyde Bray (1902-1941) worked as a policeman while he lived in Hutchinson. He took time trials in two different cars and then selected the faster of the two for the races. He later moved to California where he died in a racing accident at Oakland Speedway in Oakland.
** The #7 Hill Special Frontenac was owned by Russell Darius R. D. Hill (1901-1984) of Arkansas City, Kansas.
