Funk started on the pole but Derr passed him for the lead no more than 150 yards into the first lap of the race. Funk remained in second place until lap five when he was passed by Stott.
Crane’s car spun out in the northeast turn and became stuck on a mud bank just to the inside of the racing surface.
Walton’s car lost a wheel just as he exited the southeast turn on to the back stretch. Walton stopped the car but the wheel rolled all the way down the back stretch and into the northeast turn before it finally stopped.
Only eight cars were able to finish the race.
