Stone, Bryant, and Lies fought a spirited battle for the lead in this race until Lies broke a ring gear and pinion on the ninth lap.  Bryant mounted one last charge at Stone but fell two feet short at the finish line.

Leep crashed hard into the southwest turn wall.

Uehling had moved up from his seventh place starting spot to take over the second spot on the second lap.  He then passed Johnson on the fifth lap to win the race by two car lengths.

Copeland was running in fourth place before he dropped out on the 29th lap.

Moore spun out in the northwest turn on the 42nd lap dropping him from second place to fifth.

Frusher was running in second place when his drive line broke on the 49th lap.

Stone led all 50 laps of this race.

 

 

 

 

Jerry Stone in Shot Hampton's #94 and Roy Bryant in the Kennedy Farms #7 waged a spirited battle for the lead in the second heat race with Stone coming out on top by about two feet – Rusty Manning photo
