Kansas State Fairgrounds

Ralph A. Hankinson was the starter for these races which were witnessed by a crowd of 3,000 people. These races were sanctioned by IMCA but that organization’s touring professional drivers had not arrived in town by race time .

It was announced to the spectators that Boyd’s winning Hudson Special had cost an “Oklahoma Cherokee Indian oil millionaire” $32,000 but that appears to have been just hype by a publicist as it was not true.
Robertson’s Studebaker went to the pits with a loose rod, made repairs, and returned to the race but not in time to gain any more positions.
