Time Trials - 1 Laps

 

 

 

State Fair Dash – 4 Cars - 4 Laps

                This race was made up of the four fastest cars from time trials.  Bray and Ford were in close pursuit of Collins throughout this race win the latter winning by only a few feet.

 

 

 

I.M.C.A. Elimination Heat – 7 Laps

                Fitzgerald was challenging Ford for the lead when engine trouble forced him to the pits on the fourth lap.

 

 

 

Stock Car Race – 2 Cars - 6 Laps

                There were other entries in this race but they dropped out at the last minute.  Bascue led every lap.

 

 

 

I.M.C.A. Championship Heat – 7 Cars - 7 Laps

                Edmonds led the first five laps before a tire blew out on his Texas Special forcing him to drop out of the race on the sixth circuit.

 

 

 

Three Corner Match Race – 3 Laps

                Hoffman could close in on Collins in the corners but would loose out to him on the straightaways.

 

 

 

Consolation Race – 5 Laps

                Edmonds led the first three laps before both he and Fitzgerald dropped out on the fourth lap with car trouble.

 

 

 

10^th Annual I.M.C.A. Championship Race – 6 Cars - 9 Laps

                Collins built up an early lead and maintained it to the end.  Bray dropped out on the fifth lap of this race.  Segal and Hoffman put on a good race for third place but they were running a half-lap behind Ford.

 

 

 

 

 

* The Hollywood Special driven by Percy Ford (1888-1962) was blue in color.  Ford had finished third in the Indianapolis “500” in 1921.

 

** The #5 – 55 B & B Special driven by Spec Heminger was owned by Roy Luther O'Laughlin (1896-1930) of Hutchinson, Kansas. 

 

*** Don Shoenert’s surname has also been found spelled “Shonert”.

 

**** Ray Hess was fatally injured in a racing accident at Little Rock, Arkansas just 25 days after he competed in these races at Hutchinson.
