* Charlie Lutkie only raced at Oakley during the fair dates when the races were run on weekday afternoons. He liked dry slick race tracks and he could always depend on the Oakley race track being dry slick. He said that the competition was very tough at Oakley though. In the evenings, Lutkie would participate in wrestling matches at the fair. The racing promoter would pay the other drivers their winnings after the races but insisted on waiting until after he had watched Lutkie wrestle in the evenings before he would pay Lutkie his winnings.
** Although it agrees with the outcome of most of the races run on this day, one source says the order given above was actually the starting order of the trophy dash. According that source, the outcome of the trophy dash was: 1st place #X1 Bub McHenry and 2nd place #24 Frank Lies while the other two cars fell out of the race. This source also says the finishing order in the Grandstand choice race was: 1st place #88 Ray Marcotte. 2nd place #48 J. D. Hanna, 3rd place #67 Shorty Jones, 4th place #5 Charlie Lutkie, and DNF #24 Frank Lies.
