FAST SPEED BOYS IN OAKLEY SUNDAY

Entries from Denver, Wichita, Garden City, Scott City, Oberlin, Winona, Oakley, and many other towns will stir up the dust this Sunday on the fastest half-mile track in Western Kansas, here at Sportsman Park.

The fastest cars and best drivers in this area will roar past the large grandstand in time trials at 1:45 p.m. (CST) and in main race events at 2:15.

People who have attended the home-made racer thrillers know that it takes more than just a fast car; it takes a good driver who knows his car and himself and is ready for anything to happen.  Mr. A. Blankenburg who has been in the front promoting these races along with the Chamber of Commerce wants you to come out and enjoy yourself.

This #3 “V8 Special” was driven by Troy Routh of Wichita, Kansas.  The #7-11 visible in the background was driven by Junior Pickrel of Scott City, Kansas.

The car was owned by the Wilkinson family of Wichita, Kansas which explains the letter “W” formed from pipe in the grill.  It was driven by Bob Murra who was also from Wichita

J. D. Hanna of Dallas, Texas is shown here standing beside the #49 hot rod he drove for owner J. R. “Bob” Cox of Halstead, Kansas
