There was a "chain reaction" accident in the second turn on the second lap of this race that involved every car in this race except for that driven by Murphy.  All five cars involved slid into a big mud hole in the infield.  The accident sidelined two cars for the remainder of the race.

Carlson had built up a commanding lead when the yellow flag flew on the 11th lap for a spin involving Spreier and Kreger.  Carlson was able to pull well ahead again by the end of the race.

Vivan E. Cates of Claflin, Kansas drove his own car #94 on this afternoon only to tangle with a car driven by Harry Weible of Larned in the first heat race.  Weible's car overturned in the incident while Cates' car ran off of the racetrack and was damaged too severely to compete in any further racing on this day.  Cates incorporated his car's number in the name of his service station / garage business in Claflin.  Today, the business is owned by Cates' son, Don Cates, and is still known as the "94 Stop" - Don Cates collection

Nelson Carlson with the Wilbur Dirks owned jalopy that he won the feature in on this night - Tiller & Toiler

* Vane Tabler, Rex Fischer, Dean Sallee, and Riley Constant all of Larned.

** Ted Shinkle, Bob Salmans, Ron Cauble, and Bill Harris all of Larned.
